Rank Math AI: What Gemini Visibility Tracking Does and Doesn’t Tell You

By Mohammed Annas 7 min read
Three Rank Math AI tools, Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility, with AI Visibility highlighted above ChatGPT and Gemini tracking chips

Rank Math AI is now the name for three tools that used to be separate: Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility. The part getting the most attention is the last one, which now tracks how your brand shows up in Google Gemini as well as ChatGPT.

It’s a useful update, and also an easy one to over-read. Here’s what Rank Math’s own pages confirm, what the tracking can tell you, and what it can’t.

Quick summary, if you’re short on time:

  • Search Engine Land reports that Rank Math has brought Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility together as Rank Math AI.
  • Rank Math’s AI Visibility page confirms it currently supports ChatGPT and Gemini, and says more platforms are coming.
  • It tracks mentions, citations, sentiment and competitor positioning, on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule depending on your plan.
  • Rank Math’s help centre confirms Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility now use feature-based monthly limits instead of a shared credit pool.
  • The tracking follows the prompts you choose, so it’s a sample of AI answers, not a full picture of everything people ask.

What Rank Math AI actually includes

Search Engine Land’s report describes Rank Math AI as one offering that combines three tools. Content AI covers content ideas, drafting and optimization. AI Link Genius suggests internal links and flags broken links and orphan pages. AI Visibility tracks whether and how a brand appears in AI answers. We’ve limited this section to what that report and Rank Math’s own pages both state.

Rank Math’s pricing page lists AI Link Genius and Content AI as included in its paid plans, while the AI Visibility tracker is promoted separately. Plans and prices change often, so check the current page before you decide. There’s also a change worth knowing about. Rank Math’s help centre says Content AI has “transitioned from an AI credits system to a feature-based usage model,” covering Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility, so each feature has its own monthly allowance.

What the Gemini tracking measures

According to Rank Math’s AI Visibility page, the tool monitors “how your brand appears across AI platforms, see the sources behind those mentions, and track changes over time.” It currently supports ChatGPT and Gemini, and Rank Math says it’s “starting with these widely adopted platforms and will be adding support for more AI platforms soon.”

The metrics include brand mentions, sentiment (positive, neutral or negative), citations, competitor benchmarking and full AI response transcripts, plus an overall AI Visibility Score. How often prompts are checked depends on your plan: daily, weekly or monthly. Search Engine Land adds that prompts can be monitored in more than 30 languages.

What tracking can’t tell you

Two limits are worth keeping in mind. First, the tool follows prompts, and you choose them. It shows how AI systems answered those prompts on the days they were checked. That’s a useful sample, but it isn’t a count of everything real people ask, which is why our post on the questions buyers ask AI assistants starts with real conversations and search data, not a tool.

Second, AI answers can change between runs, so one snapshot proves little. A score is best read as a trend over several weeks. And the AI Visibility Score is Rank Math’s own blend of rankings, citations, mentions and sentiment, so it’s useful for comparing your own progress, not as an industry standard.

How to use it without fooling yourself

  • Pick prompts from real questions. Use questions from sales calls, emails and Search Console, not guesses.
  • Track a small, steady set. Changing prompts every week makes trends meaningless.
  • Look at the sources, not just the score. If an AI answer cites a competitor’s page, that page shows what you may be missing.
  • Connect it to the work. A drop or gain only matters if you know what changed on your site.

Tracking is the measuring stick, not the work itself. What actually moves visibility is covered in our post on the three pillars of GEO: content AI can extract, a brand AI describes accurately, and, for shops, products agents can order.

A prompt to make sense of your AI visibility numbers

A tracking tool can show how AI assistants mention your brand, but a number alone does not say what to do. The prompt below helps you read your results with care. Paste your own numbers, and check the answer against the tool.

Act as an SEO analyst. I will paste results from an AI visibility tracking tool.

The results:
[paste the numbers, prompts tested and brands mentioned]

Please do the following:
1. Say in plain words what the results show, and what they do not show.
2. List 3 reasons the numbers could be misleading, such as small samples.
3. Suggest 3 low-risk actions I could take next.

Rules:
– Only use the data I pasted.
– Do not treat one tool’s score as a fact about all AI assistants.
– Do not promise improvements.

Try a few of the prompts yourself in the assistants your customers use, and compare with the tool. Trust what you can see with your own eyes.

Questions worth answering directly

What is Rank Math AI?

According to Search Engine Land, it’s Rank Math’s bundle of Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility. Content AI handles content creation and optimization, AI Link Genius handles internal linking, and AI Visibility tracks brand appearances in AI answers.

Which AI platforms does Rank Math AI Visibility track?

ChatGPT and Gemini, according to Rank Math’s own AI Visibility page, which also says more platforms will be added. It tracks mentions, citations, sentiment and competitor positioning on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule depending on the plan.

Does an AI visibility score show how many people see my brand in AI answers?

No. It reflects how AI systems answered the specific prompts you chose to track, on the days they were checked. It’s a useful trend to watch, but it isn’t a measure of total audience.

How often does Rank Math AI Visibility check my prompts?

Daily, weekly or monthly, depending on your plan, according to Rank Math’s AI Visibility page.

What changed with Content AI credits?

Rank Math’s help centre says Content AI moved from an AI credits system to a feature-based usage model. Content AI, AI Link Genius and AI Visibility now each have their own monthly limits.

How much does Rank Math AI cost?

Plans and promotions change often, so check Rank Math’s current pricing page. At the time of writing, its pricing page lists AI Link Genius and Content AI in its paid plans and promotes AI Visibility separately.

Where this actually matters

Being able to see how AI assistants describe your brand is a real step forward, especially for small businesses that had no way to check. Just treat it as a measuring stick. The score only improves when the pages, facts and questions behind it do.
